The Kawazu Nanadaru (literally, “Seven Waterfalls of Kawazu”) is a cluster of stunning waterfalls located in Kawazu Town, on the Izu Peninsula of Shizuoka Prefecture. Among them, Shokeidaru is particularly popular with visitors. Interestingly, the word “daru” for waterfall in this context is derived from the local dialect “taru,” which refers to waterfalls in this region. The Kawazu Nanadaru consists of seven waterfalls, each with its own name and unique charm. The Shokeidaru, with a height of 10 meters and a width of 7 meters, is especially notable for its proximity to the bronze statue of “The Dancing Girl and I,” inspired by Yasunari Kawabata’s novel The Dancing Girl of Izu.
