日本の西側にある日本海に面した地方、北陸地方や新潟県等には、JPCZ（Japan Sea Polar air mass Convergence Zone：日本海寒気収束帯）と呼ばれる寒気の吹き出し口があり、大雪をもたらします。
2024年2月5日から9日にかけて、このJPCZが日本を襲い、日本海側各地に大雪をもたらしました。

In the regions facing the Sea of Japan on Japan’s western side, such as the Hokuriku region and Niigata Prefecture, there is a cold air outflow zone called the JPCZ (Japan Sea Polar air mass Convergence Zone), which brings heavy snowfall.
From February 5 to 9, 2024, this JPCZ hit Japan, causing heavy snowfall in various areas along the Sea of Japan.
