ドクターイエローは、新幹線の線路や電気設備を点検するための特別な試験車両です。JR東海のドクターイエロー（T4編成）は、2001年から運行していましたが、老朽化のため2025年1月29日に引退しました。後継として、最新の新幹線車両に検査機能を組み込む方式が採用される予定です。なお、JR西日本のドクターイエロー（T5編成）は、引き続き運行を続けますが、2027年頃に引退予定です。

Doctor Yellow is a special inspection train used to check the tracks and electrical systems of the Shinkansen. JR Central’s Doctor Yellow (T4 formation) had been in operation since 2001 but was retired on January 29, 2025, due to aging. As a successor, a new system will integrate inspection functions into the latest Shinkansen trains. Meanwhile, JR West’s Doctor Yellow (T5 formation) continues to operate but is expected to retire around 2027.
